SPSV Athletics – Where Champions Are Made
St. Patrick-St. Vincent Catholic High School’s Athletic program has a long history of excellence, producing champions in a variety of sports. We take great pride in the success of our student-athletes, and we believe their achievements reflect the hard work and dedication of our coaching staff and the entire SPSV community.
Our goal is to instill values such as teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship in our student-athletes. Our coaches are experienced professionals dedicated to helping them grow as individuals. Athletics is an integral part of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education, and our program’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our coaches, student-athletes, and the entire school community. We are proud of our champions and look forward to continuing to support and guide our student-athletes in achieving their full potential!
Program Overview
The athletic program at St. Patrick-St. Vincent Catholic High School seeks to provide an experience of high-level competition that enables students to develop athletic skills and personal qualities. We believe that through athletics, students have the opportunity to learn the values of good sportsmanship, self-discipline, loyalty, leadership, and friendship.
At SPSV, academics and athletics go hand in hand. A student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average in order to participate on an athletic team.
As part of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the North Coast Section (NCS), our boys’ and girls’ sports teams are members of the Tri-County Athletic League. Students of all grade levels are eligible to compete.
Mission Statement
The CIF governs interscholastic athletics, promoting equity, quality, character, and academic development:
- Equity – Equal opportunity without regard to race, gender, or ethnicity within all aspects of the athletic program for students, personnel, schools, and governance.
- Quality – Training, education, and commitment of coaches, officials, administrators, and parents to improve the quality of athletic programs.
- Character – Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.
- Academic Development – A commitment to encouraging academic growth as a high priority.
CIF Vision
Athletic competition is an integral part of the high school experience. CIF is uniquely positioned to foster student growth in values and ethics. CIF’s ideal of “Pursuing Victory with Honor” provides the opportunity to dramatically influence the actions of the athletic community. CIF strives to strengthen the integrity of students and adults across the state by promoting the concepts of sportsmanship, honesty, and quality academics. These priorities advance the highest principles of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.
